Prayer Request

You Raise Me Up - Selah.

Please offer your prayers for my brother who is in hospital gravely ill with pneumonia. He has suffered with MD for several years as well as a significant heart and lung condition. I fear he is facing his last days in this life.

Blest are You, God of the Universe,

We thank you and praise You for life.

Bless John with patient endurance.

May mercy and compassion be with his family during this time of transition.

Remember the good words and works of John and forgive his sin.

Bring him into a relationship with Jesus.

May the holy Angels be with him both now and forever.

Amen.

Also, please offer prayers for a very dear friend whose husband has recently suffered a massive stroke and she herself is experiencing a serious battle with cancer.

God of all goodness,

Look with mercy on my dear friends who are experiencing major illnesses.

Let your hand of healing and protection be upon them.

When they are fearful, ease their fear and anxieties.

When they are afraid, give them strength and courage.

When they feel alone, send them someone to listen and to care.

When they are confused, provide reassurance and direction.

When they are in pain, ease their suffering.

When they despair, give them hope.

May they experience your healing presence in the comfort of a caregiver’s calm gaze and tender touch.

We ask this in your holy name.

Amen.

Here is a site (Aleteia) that has partnered with 550 monasteries to offer intercessory prayer. You do need to become a free Aleteia Premium member but they do not send floods of emails - promise. It's also a site that mercifully avoids all the polarisation and mud-raking taking place in the Western Catholic Church these days.

Please feel free to add your own prayer requests.

O Lord our God, Who by word alone did heal all diseases, Who did cure the kinswoman of Peter, You Who chastise with pity and heal according to Your goodness; Who are able to put aside every malady and infirmity, do You Yourself, the same Lord, grant aid to this Your servant and cure him of every sickness of which he is grieved; lift him up from his bed of pain, and send down upon him Your great mercy, and if it be Your will, give to him health and a complete recovery; for You are the Physician of our souls and bodies, and to You do we send up Glory: to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

  7. P..S. This "Anonymous" is me, Ray Sunshine. It's the first time your website has failed to recognise me. I hadn't made allowance for that eventuality.

    1. Thank you for your prayers, Ray.

My brother remains in critical care but is making a slow recovery. He has "inclusion body myositis" which effects his ability to breath and his heart. It also effects his swallowing and he contracted aspiration pneumonia. Hopefully, he will pull through - the signs are positive - thank God.

No news on HJ's friends so far.

    2. My brother's health took a turn for the worse early this morning and the doctors called his wife and son to the hospital at 4am. Spoke with him and he's very weak. Keep him in your prayers.

    1. Yes, hopes raised, only to be dashed. Doctors are not optimistic that his heart will be able to tolerate the strain much longer - but he's a real fighter. It's his wife, sons and grandsons who are feeling the pain most. Sad time.

Waiting for a loved one to die is always a painful experience. Even when you know it's for the best, knowing they will be with Jesus.
I pray that God provides you and your brother's loved ones with his peace and strength whatever the outcome.
