Kris Kristofferson (1936-2024)

Rest in Peace.

“Kris Kristofferson believed creativity is God-given, and those who ignore such a gift are doomed to unhappiness. He preached that a life of the mind gives voice to the soul, and his work gave voice not only to his soul but to ours. He leaves a resounding legacy.”

(Kyle Young)

Why me Lord, what have I ever done
To deserve even one
Of the pleasures I've known
Tell me Lord, what did I ever do
That was worth loving You
Or the kindness You've shown

Lord help me Jesus, I've wasted it
So help me Jesus, I know what I am
Now that I know that I've needed you
So Help me Jesus, my soul's in Your hand

Tell me Lord, if you think there's a way
I can try to repay
All I've taken from You
Maybe Lord, I can show someone else
What I've been through myself
On my way back to You

Lord, help me Jesus, I've wasted it
So Help me Jesus, I know what I am
Now that I know that I've needed you
So help me Jesus, my soul's in Your hand

Lord, help me Jesus, I've wasted it
So Help me Jesus, I know what I am
Now that I know that I've needed you
So help me Jesus, my soul's in Your hand

Jesus, my soul's in Your hand.

  1. Kristofferson may well have had a distinguished C & W career - a genre that I have begun warming to only recently - but I will remember him as "Rubber Duck" in the film "Convoy"! May we meet with him one day in that great convoy in the sky. 10-4.
